A village situated on the shores of the Barents Sea, in the extreme North West of Russia. I have seen so many vanishing villages like this one in Russia. Villages that look like they have been shelled. Villages covered with ruins.
As an archeologist of contemporary times I track the traces of recent life stories.
The village of Teriberka developed quickly after WW2, thanks to the fishing industry. But since the 60's, it keeps declining, up to a point where, today, we are wondering how long the process of completely dying is going to take for the village. Although many people left, there are still inhabitants living in the village, completely surrounded by ruins of former plants or houses which collapsed but where not moved. One day, a big wave combined with very strong winds will come and blow the village away. And nobody will even remember that there was life.
