The creative mind behind our Watches and Wonders 2023 swinging pendulum feature, Marie De La Ville Baugé.
Marie is a nomadic visual artist who finds inspiration from the feelings and sensations felt from her own mountaineering experiences, as well as the stories of characters she met in the Arctic and the mountains during her adventures.

THE PENDULUM
Marie de La Ville Bauge has crafted a remarkable one-line drawing for MontBlanc, symbolizing an extraordinary adventure. This artistic masterpiece depicts an explorer embarking on a journey from a blank canvas, ultimately accumulating numerous vivid images and cherished memories. MontBlanc's innovative creation, the pendulum, meticulously produces a fresh depiction of this captivating exploration on a daily basis.
THE DECOR
I drew two voices, two letters full of thoughts, whispered and sent silently into the unknown, an echo lost somewhere in the mountains. The breathless voice of the adventurer (she or he) focusing on his physical and mental challenge, his deep desire to live in the moment, his excitement, and his will to hopefully one day share it. The voice of a partner who abandoned his loved one to the grace of God and is longing for his return.

THE MURAL
In this body of work created for MontBlanc with MontBlanc inks and nibs, I want to speak about those very intense emotions that alpinists and adventurers feel when opening routes, ascending, summiting, sometimes failing but starting over again. Battling alone into the wild, and in an endless effort, reaching the end of their extraordinary journey.
Marie de La Ville Bauge has skillfully adorned a vast wall with intricate, thin lines, portraying two exceptional adventurers conquering towering mountains while tethered by a single rope.
This awe-inspiring mural depicts a harmonious union of two generations, characterized by distinct philosophies and approaches, yet fueled by a shared passion. The artistic creation draws inspiration from the captivating narratives of MontBlanc's esteemed brand ambassadors, Nimsdai and Reinhold Messner.
